Reconstruction of the Borda Pina



Borda Pina was an old country house for shelter animals and it have required an extensive reconstruction. Here are the criteria, photographs and documents used for Borda Pina's reconstruction.

Interior reform

As with all the refuges, Pina has been built with dry stone and mud. This was the normal way of building in rural 200 years ago. The passing years had meant that, despite the thickness of wall insulation was very precarious. Especially on windy days. Therefore an important reform needed to make it habitable. We felt it best to intervene to stop the outer internally as authentic as possible. Anyway was needed reforms to the interior layout.

The reforms aim to thermally isolate overboard to minimize energy loss and strengthen the existing structure. Removing moisture

Borda Pina required a strong and complex intervention to prevent humidity. First, opening upwards to the edge Pina Sovereign had buried the east façade to almost the pavement. The waters of the roof along with that came the way of the beams penetrate and damage the floor.

Moreover, the Borda Pina was built on a rock himself. This leads through the water table in the same rock groundwater. All this required a complicated operation that you can see in detail in the section "Removing moisture."

The reform was also intended as an aesthetic improvement to lay bare wall beneath the pavement is better overview.

Pavement reconstruction

The word "Sobirà" is used to indicate that belongs to the top, and Jussà it's situated bellow. It happens the same with the regions of Pallars. There are basically two barns: Sobirà Pina and Pina Jussà. Our Pina is Jussà and dating from 1,837.

Throughout its long history, there have been very accurate reconstructions. In the last one they changed the board to a metal plate, and it was a wrong decision because it was going water inside with the rains.
